Tu Yaa Main Struggles at Box Office on Day 1

Tu Yaa Main had a slow start at the Indian box office on its opening day. The survival thriller starring Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav, and directed by Bejoy Nambiar, earned around ₹55–57 lakh nett on Friday, according to early estimates by Sacnilk.com. With 1,239 shows and an average occupancy of just 6%, the film failed to cross the ₹1 crore mark.

Despite the weak opening, Tu Yaa Main managed to outperform the lead actors’ previous releases. Shanaya Kapoor’s 2025 romantic drama Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan collected about ₹30 lakh on day one, while Adarsh Gourav’s Superboys of Malegaon earned roughly ₹50 lakh at its opening.

The film has received mixed-to-positive critical feedback, with praise for Adarsh Gourav’s performance and the film’s attempt at a gritty survival thriller. Whether word of mouth can boost its weekend numbers remains to be seen.

Shahid Kapoor’s O’Romeo earned Rs 8.25 crore on the first day

O’Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, released in theatres on Friday amid high expectations. Despite strong pre-release buzz, the film recorded a modest opening, earning around ₹8.25 crore net on Day 1, according to Sacnilk, falling short of the double-digit mark.

The film registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 14.86 percent. While morning and afternoon shows remained low, night shows saw improvement, indicating gradual audience interest. Metro cities performed better, with Mumbai showing nearly 19 percent occupancy, suggesting urban traction.

Compared to Shahid Kapoor’s recent releases, O’Romeo has fared better than Deva and Jersey, but remains far behind his blockbuster Kabir Singh. With mixed reviews, the weekend performance will be crucial.

Vadh 2 Records Strong Opening at Box Office

Vadh 2 has made a confident start at the Indian box office, collecting ₹2.5 crore in its first weekend. Starring Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta, the crime thriller has emerged as the biggest opening film of Sanjay Mishra’s career so far. The film’s steady numbers underline growing audience interest and mark an important milestone for the veteran actor.

The success of Vadh 2 is largely driven by the goodwill earned by the first part, which gained popularity on OTT platforms over time. Positive word of mouth and strong digital viewership helped turn the franchise into a trusted name among crime-drama fans. This goodwill has now translated into encouraging theatre footfalls for the sequel.

Trade reports show an upward trend in collections on Saturday and Sunday, indicating stable occupancy and sustained interest. While the opening figures are modest, industry experts believe the film has a strong base for weekday collections, supported by positive reviews and loyal viewers.

Border 2 Morning Shows Cancelled Due to Technical Delay

Exhibitors clarified that the issue was temporary and caused by technical reasons.

According to trade sources, early shows scheduled between 7:30 am and 9 am could not take place as the final digital content was delivered late. Platforms like UFO Moviez reportedly informed cinema owners that the download would start only around 6:30 am. With the film’s long runtime of 192 minutes, it took additional hours to prepare the content for screening.

Despite the initial disruption, exhibitors remain confident that shows will resume smoothly. Screenings are expected to begin nationwide by around 10 am. Border 2 banned in Gulf countries including the UAE

Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan’s upcoming war film Border 2 is set to release in theatres on January 23, 2026. However, the film will not be screened in several Gulf countries. As per an industry source, films perceived to have “anti-Pakistan” content often face release issues in the Gulf belt. Despite efforts by the makers, Border 2 could not secure clearance in these countries. A similar ban was earlier imposed on Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which still went on to become a massive box-office success worldwide.

Meanwhile, Border 2 is witnessing strong advance bookings in India. The film has already sold around 60,000 tickets at major cinema chains. Apart from Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan, the film also stars Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh.
