Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal were set to tie the knot on 23 November, but celebrations came to a halt after back-to-back health emergencies in the family. First, Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana experienced severe chest pain and was rushed to the hospital with heart-attack–like symptoms. Doctors shifted him to observation and began immediate treatment, delaying the wedding ceremonies.

According to reports, Smriti’s fiancé Palash Muchhal also fell ill shortly after. Sources told NDTV that Palash was taken to a private hospital due to a viral infection and increased acidity. He underwent treatment and is now feeling better. After his condition stabilised, he was shifted back to the hotel. His sudden illness added further stress to an already emotional situation for both families.

The couple had already begun their pre-wedding celebrations, with videos of their haldi, mehendi and sangeet ceremonies going viral on social media. Smriti and Palash even performed together, and Smriti’s father also joined the dance before falling ill. With both families prioritising health, the wedding has been postponed. As of now, no new date has been announced.

The film crew will regroup after two weeks once Shraddha fully recovers. ‘Itha’ is a biographical drama based on the life of renowned dancer, actor, and Tamasha artist Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, with Shraddha portraying her younger version.
