The popular erotic horror franchise Ragini is preparing to enter its next phase with its third instalment officially titled Ragini 3. After months of speculation around delays, the project is now moving ahead steadily. According to industry sources, talks are underway with Tamannaah Bhatia and Junaid Khan to play the lead roles, though the makers are yet to make a formal announcement.

There has also been a key change behind the camera. Filmmaker Shashanka Ghosh is set to direct the film, while Sahir Raza will now contribute in a creative role. Producer Ekta Kapoor continues her long-standing association with the franchise.

Launched with Ragini MMS in 2011 and followed by Ragini MMS 2, the series is known for blending horror with sensual suspense. Ragini 3 is expected to lean more into supernatural elements, keeping audiences intrigued as anticipation builds.

In the released images, Anjali is seen dressed in a saffron saree, holding a basket of fruits, portraying Sita during her exile period. Another still shows her posing alongside actor Dev Sharma, who plays Lord Ram. However, many internet users have reacted sharply, questioning the casting decision.

Netizens argue that a personality like Anjali Arora—who has been involved in several online controversies, including a rumored MMS scandal—should not portray a revered mythological figure. Comments flooded social media, accusing the filmmakers of disrespecting Hindu sentiments and “commercializing” religious icons for publicity.

While the makers of Shri Ramayan Katha have yet to respond, the controversy has already sparked a heated debate on the portrayal of mythological characters in modern cinema.
