Lahore 1947 is set to release on August 13

Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol, is shaping up to be one of the most awaited period dramas of the year. Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film is officially set to release in theatres on August 13, 2026, during the Independence Day week. The announcement has raised excitement among fans who have been eagerly waiting for updates on the project.

The film marks the much-celebrated reunion of 90s hit duo Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi, known for iconic films like Ghayal, Ghatak and Damini. Aamir Khan, who is producing the film for the first time with this duo, revealed that Lahore 1947 was one of Dharmendra’s favourite scripts, adding emotional value to the project.

Set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, the film is based on Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Ni. It also marks the comeback of Preity Zinta, alongside Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol, promising a powerful and emotional cinematic experience.

Rasika Dugal, who portrayed Beena, the wife of Kaleen Bhaiya in the popular web series Mirzapur, captivated audiences with her outstanding performance. She reportedly earned Rs 2 lakh per episode, bringing her estimated total earnings for Mirzapur Season 3 to around Rs 20 lakh. Shweta Tripathi, known for her role as Golu, was reportedly paid Rs 2.20 lakh per episode. Meanwhile, Ali Fazal, who plays the lead character Guddu Pandit and is a central attraction in Season 3, commanded a fee of over Rs 1 crore for the season, reportedly charging Rs 12 lakh per episode.
