Kalki 2 Begins Filming, Big Reunion Excites Fans

The much-awaited second installment of Kalki 2898 AD has officially gone on floors, creating massive buzz among cinema lovers. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sequel marks a historic onscreen reunion of legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan after a long gap of nearly 40 years.

Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Ashwatthama in the dystopian epic, confirmed the start of filming through his official social media handle. He also shared exclusive pictures from the sets with Kamal Haasan, who essays the powerful antagonist Supreme Yaskin. The images instantly went viral, leaving fans excited about their long-awaited collaboration, last seen in the film Giraftar.

While the first part featured Kamal Haasan in a brief appearance, Kalki 2 is expected to bring him face-to-face with Amitabh Bachchan and leading star Prabhas, promising intense drama and epic confrontations on screen.

Prabhas’ sci-fi blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD created waves at the box office after its 2024 release, and excitement is now building around its much-awaited sequel. As the film nears its two-year mark, reports suggest that work on Kalki 2898 AD Part 2 may begin soon, with filming expected to start in February 2026. Alongside this update, a new casting rumour has caught fans’ attention.

According to ongoing speculation, Sai Pallavi is being considered to replace Deepika Padukone in the sequel. Earlier reports had hinted at Alia Bhatt as a possible choice, but current buzz points toward Sai Pallavi as the frontrunner. However, the makers have not made any official announcement, and the reports remain unconfirmed.

Previously, the team revealed that they would not continue with Deepika Padukone due to scheduling challenges. Meanwhile, Prabhas is set to juggle Kalki 2898 AD Part 2, Spirit, and Fauji, as director Nag Ashwin expands the epic mythological sci-fi universe further.
