New Delhi, March 25, 2025 – “A Legacy of Her”, organized by Anubhav NGO with Beat of Life Entertainment as the official Digital Media Partner, brought together a compelling gathering of voices to discuss the realities of women in politics, policy, media, and law. Held at the India International Centre, the event created space for honest dialogue on inclusion, safety, representation, and reform.
The program began with an opening address by Rukmini Singh, General Secretary of Anubhav NGO, who set the tone for the conversations ahead and outlined the event’s purpose.
A Legacy of Her
The opening session featured Barkha Singh, former Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, and Mamta Yadav, Member of the Haryana Public Service Commission. They raised concerns about the structural gaps that still limit women’s participation in politics — from the absence of POSH committees in parties to financial inequality.
Mamta Yadav reflected: “Women have always been a part of Indian political history — from Rani Lakshmibai to Sarojini Naidu. But even today, despite being educated, many women are not economically independent. Politics requires financial capacity, and until women achieve that, their participation will always be limited.”
On the theme of digital misinformation and online harassment, Nupur Sharma, Advocate and former BJP spokesperson, remarked: “Social media is a double-edged sword, where anyone can spread rumors, and people accept them without verification. The question is — are we even distinguishing between truth and lies anymore? Awareness doesn’t come from consumption alone; it depends on how we use the information. Are people blindly following a narrative, or are they thinking critically?”
Rashmi Samant, the first Indian woman elected President of Oxford University’s Student Union, and Smriti Rastogi, Political Editor at Jagran New Media, emphasized the risks of unverified reporting and how media speed often overrides accuracy, resulting in long-term harm.
In the legal session, Dr. Ranjana Kumari, Adv. Abha Singh, and Yogita Bhayana explored the gap between law and lived reality — especially in cases concerning domestic violence, marital rape, and the perception of misuse of women-centric laws.
The event also featured a deeply impactful stage performance of “Pinjraa”, written and directed by Sameer Ahsan and presented by Zariya Neo Theatre Group. The play illustrated the seven stages of domestic violence with powerful storytelling and silence-breaking clarity.
Adding a beautiful cultural touch to the evening, Dev Anand Jha performed a heartfelt song that captivated the audience and brought warmth to the program.
More than just a conversation, “A Legacy of Her” stood as a call to reform — not just to include women in public discourse, but to support, protect, and amplify their presence through real, lasting change. The event’s reach and impact were further extended by Beat of Life Entertainment :Digital Media Partner.
