Vettaiyan Review, Budget & Cast “Bollywood plus”

Vettaiyan Cast

The 2024 film Vettaiyan, directed by T.J. Gnanavel, features an impressive cast led by Rajinikanth, who plays an encounter specialist. Amitabh Bachchan has a key role as a retired judge, marking a highly anticipated reunion with Rajinikanth after over three decades. Other notable actors include Fahadh Faasil as Shiva, Manju Warrier as Tara, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and Rohini, among others. The film also benefits from music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by S.R. Kathir.

Vettaiyan Budget

Vettaiyan was made on a significant budget of ₹300 crore, making it one of the most expensive Tamil films in recent times. Rajinikanth’s salary alone is reportedly around ₹125 crore, while other stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Fahadh Faasil earned ₹7 crore and ₹2-4 crore, respectively

Vettaiyan Review

Rajinikanth shines in his role, particularly in the first 20 minutes, which is packed with mass moments tailored for his fans. His screen presence and charisma are highly celebrated. The movie, an investigative thriller, centers on crime-solving, blending commercial elements with a societal message. Performances by Fahadh Faasil and Amitabh Bachchan also receive strong praise, adding weight to the film. Anirudh’s background score has been highlighted as a key strength, enhancing the intensity of the story.

However, reviews suggest that Vettaiyan falters in the second half. While the first half is gripping, the latter portion has been criticized for predictability and a lack of excitement. Some viewers found the plot formulaic, and the characters underdeveloped, leading to a sense of missed potential in the storytelling. Despite these critiques, fans of Rajinikanth will enjoy his classic mannerisms and style, which are seamlessly woven into the narrative.

In summary, Vettaiyan excels in delivering fan service and strong performances but may not meet the expectations of those looking for a more innovative or thrilling plot. It’s a decent film with a social message but falls short of Rajinikanth’s previous hits like Jailer.
